Hasbro Legacy Collection Malakili (Rancor Keeper)

This is the latest version of Malakili, better known to most as the Rancor Keeper. I believe this is the third version that’s been made, the first being the vintage figure and the second being the Power of the Force version from the 1990s (I haven’t written about either of these yet, but I will). They’re all pretty well done in reality, but this is certainly the best. It’s got good sculpting and much better articulation than any of the previous versions. He comes with his weapon and a removable cowl. I like the bit of airbrushing on the chest to suggest chest hair.
I’ve always liked the character of the Rancor Keeper. He’s a kind of a throwaway character in that he’s only on screen for a few seconds, but the way he reacts when the Rancor is killed is another one of those moments that really adds a lot to the depth of the story. It implies that there are all sorts of things going on that we only get a glimpse of.

Gamespot has posted a hilarious “exclusive” interview about a being able to play a Sarlacc character in the upcoming Star Wars MMORPG “Star Wars: The Old Republic.”
In all seriousness, though, I would just LOVE to be able to play a Hutt in the game. Hutta (the Hutt home planet) is one of the places you can apparently visit, but I don’t think they’ve announced that you can actually play a Hutt character yet. Come on, Bioware. Let’s make this happen!
Link: Custom LEGO Jabba’s Palace on eBay UK
This guy is selling a pretty impressive custom-made LEGO Jabba’s Palace. It’s a lot closer to what I wish we got than the actual LEGO palace.

Rawcliffe made a surprisingly large number of pewter figurines in the 1990s. It included both characters and vehicles from the old and new films. Each of the ones here is around 2 inches tall (although as you can see, Leia is much smaller than Bib Fortuna for some reason). I’d say they’re pretty well made. I especially like the Rebo Band.
I really want to get the Jabbas that they made, so far I haven’t been able to locate them for a good price. They made one figure of Jabba on his own and one larger one of Jabba and Leia together. The latter one can sell for well over $100, when you can find it.
Hasbro Legacy Collection Slave Leia (with “sitting” legs)

This is the latest version of Slave Leia that Hasbro has produced. It’s most notable for the second set of legs that it comes with, allowing you to display her sitting down as she might on Jabba’s throne. You just pop one set of legs off of the torso and put the other one on. She also comes with Jabba’s toasting cup and a staff or halberd of some kind that she took from Jabba’a guards. In terms of the likeness, it’s just so-so. I think the Saga Collection one is more attractive, and even comes with a real chain instead of a plastic one. But since this is the only Slave Leia that can sit down convincingly, I think most people will want this one for their Jabba displays. Here she is with my repainted Ultra Jabba.

Hasbro C-3PO with Salacious Crumb

These figures are of course meant to be used to replicate the scene where Salacious Crumb plucks out poor C-3PO’s eye on Jabba’s sail barge. But this Salacious is also the best version of the character that we’ve been given in this scale, so if you’re trying to put together a Jabba display, this is the one I would get. It’s possible to make him sit down as well as cling to C-3PO, so you have a fair amount of options with him.

The C-3PO is pretty nice too. He has the green goo that got on him when Jabba pushed him to the floor in a fit of rage, and he also has a pop-out eye that Salacious can grab onto. The only real issue is that if you want the eye to be pushed in so he looks normal, the rest of it will be hanging off the back of C-3PO’s head.
Topps Clone Wars Trading Cards (Jabba, Ziro, Rotta)

Here are some trading cards from the Topps Clone Wars series (the front of the card is on the left, the back is on the right). Note that these are preprinted, mass-produced cards unlike the sketch cards that I have, which are original art. How adorable is Rotta here? 🙂
Link: Jabba Cookie On Ebay

This is a cookie currently up for sale on ebay. The auction title is “Jabba the Hutt Cookie Star Wars Unbelieveable Likeness.” Unbelievable is right… Here’s the text of the auction. I certainly hope it’s meant as a joke. Bidding starts at $3.99 with $7.99 for shipping. Incredibly there are no bidders as of now. 😉
This is a homemade cookie, mint chip, that when it came out of the oven it looks exactly like Jabba the Hutt.
Everyone who has seen this cookie can see Jabba easily without hints. It was made about 6 months ago and we have been enjoying the amazing likeness since. The cookie was not made to look like Jabba, it just came out that way.
See for yourself, if you are a Star Wars fan, this is very incredible. Just like the Virgin Mary’s likeness on a Grilled Cheese sandwich, now you can have a villian forever baked into a cookie. Thanks for looking and bidding.
I will ship carefully so you get Jabba just like you see in the photo.

Vintage Sy Snootles and the Max Rebo Band Action Set

I still remember getting these guys on Christmas morning 1983. Well, not these specific figures, since they got “lost” somewhere along the line. But I remember getting a set of Rebo Band figures. On the one hand, they’re kind of silly figures because they don’t do anything but play instruments. You have to get kind of creative if you want to have adventures with them. But I just love the designs of the aliens, and for vintage figures these toys are very accurate versions of what we saw on screen. The band consists of Max Rebo himself on the keyboard, Sy Snootles on vocals, and Droopy McCool on the… whatever that thing is.
Apparently these either came with a black instrument and silver mics or a silver instrument and black mics — never all silver like I have here. But I kind of like the all-silver look so I’m not overly bothered by that.
Here’s one of the original TV commercials for the set:
