Jabba-Related Exclusives from Celebration 2019

April 3, 2019

Even though I won’t be attending Celebration in Chicago, I do plan to pick up the Jabba-related exclusives that will be available. Here’s what I have found so far. Please let me know if I am missing anything, and I will update this post. Some of these are shared exclusives with other retailers, meaning that you don’t really have to go to Celebration to get them, and it’s not necessary to pay extra to get them on the secondary market, either. Other ones will probably only be available at the show, although in the past some of the merchandise was available via the ReedPop website, so that’s worth a look. I’ll try and make a post or at least tweet if I hear about any of these going up for general purchase.

I already posted a review of the Jabba’s Dais Gargoyle Magnet from Regal Robot, which will be selling for $20, so let’s look at what else will be available.

I think one of the things that I’m most excited about are these Jabba’s Palace-themed PEZ dispensers. They’ve made a lot of PEZ dispensers in the shape of Star Wars characters, but to my knowledge none of them have been from Jabba’s Palace. Retail price seems to be $9.99 apiece. These will apparently be available at GameStop as well as at Celebration, so there’s probably no need to spend the $125 I saw these listed at on eBay!

Jabba-Chia-Pet

An eagle-eyed reader let me know about this one: a Jabba the Hutt Chia Pet from NECA. I’ll have to say, this falls under the category of “I never thought they’d make one of these” — even more than the PEZ dispenser. This appears to be limited to just 500 pieces and sells for a hefty $45 at the show. No idea if they will be available elsewhere. I’ll definitely have to track one down, but I cringe at the thought of what the resale prices will be…

Hallmark released a set of Jabba & Slave Leia Itty Bitty plushes for SDCC 2016, and now they are releasing one of Leia as Boushh for Celebration 2019. Normally plushes like these only sell for $6 or $7, but I’m not sure what they’re going to be charging at the show, and you will have to pay a lot more than that on the secondary market (as of this writing the lowest buy-it-now on eBay appears to be $39). It’s generally better to wait until Celebration has actually started and there are a number of these on eBay before buying, and I expect the price will come down if you’re patient.

One line that I wouldn’t have thought I would like as much as I do is Geeki Tikis. I have written a review of the Jabba & Salacious Crumb set, which was a Celebration 2017 exclusive, and this year the exclusive is the rancor monster paired with a tiny Jedi Luke cup. The Jabba set was a shared exclusive with Think Geek, so I am hoping that will also be the case this time, but I have not received confirmation of that. I don’t have a price on these, but based on the Jabba set I would expect them to be around $30.

Finally, we have these jumbo mugs from Galerie — one of which features quite a number of Jabba’s Palace characters. Judging from some of the other characters I see, it’s probably more of a “Star Wars aliens” theme, but it looks pretty cool. They will apparently be selling for $15.

Again, I’ve probably missed some things, so please do let me know if you’ve heard of anything else. And if you happen to be going to Celebration and would be willing to pick something up for me, please get it in touch.
