Vintage Jabba the Hutt Tote Bag (Possible Adam Joseph Industries Prototype?)
I bought this canvas tote more than a year ago, but I never posted about it, mostly because I kept thinking that I would be able to find more information about it, but I haven’t had much luck. It just popped up on eBay one day, and since I had never seen it before and I could find no reference to it anywhere, I was very interested to obtain it. Luckily I managed to get it for a pretty reasonable price.
It appears to be identical to the vintage tote bags made by Adam Joseph Industries in 1983, and has the same kind of plastic pocket with a snap inside, but there is no company name on it. (The Adam Joseph bags should have a tag inside with the company name on it.) While I have found references to bags featuring Yoda, R2-D2/C-3PO, Darth Vader/Royal Guards, and Wicket the Ewok, I have never found any mention of a Jabba the Hutt bag like this. The person I bought it from said she got it at an estate sale and didn’t know anything about it. It is in perfect condition, and I think it’s entirely possible that it’s a prototype that never made it into production, but that’s just a guess on my part. I’d be very interested to hear from anyone who knows more about it.
