Jabba the Hutt & Slave Leia Pop Badge from Madame Tussauds of London

April 2, 2017

It’s been almost two years since I wrote about the Jabba and Leia figures being added to Madame Tussauds, the famed wax museum. I still think their Jabba is easily the best life-size recreation of the character that has been made. Recently, these “Pop Badges” from the museum have been popping up on eBay. They’re like pin badges, but instead of using pins, they have a plastic part that sandwiches your shirt or lanyard to keep the badge on. Not being familiar with this style of badge, I was a little disappointed when mine arrived, since I had expected it to be metal, but it’s plastic, and the part with the picture is apparently cardboard.

The page on the museum’s website about these actually makes them sound kind of hard to get, since you have to actually visit the museum and buy a piece of Star Wars merchandise to get one (for free), and you can only get two per visit:

To collect a Star Wars collection pop badge, Merlin Annual Passholders must visit Madame Tussauds London and then purchase an item of Star Wars merchandise in the gift shop. One free pop badge will be received with each item purchased. A maximum of two pop badges can be collected per attraction visit. Passholders will be asked to present their pass and paper attraction ticket upon purchase in order to obtain a free pop badge. Limited availability while stocks last.

Although I lived in England for 9 months while in college, and even spent my honeymoon there later on, I haven’t been there in many years so the likelihood of being able to see these figures in person is small, but at least I have a little part of it for my collection.
