Kellogg’s Corn Flakes Box With Jabba the Hutt & Han Solo
Many food manufacturers seem a little reluctant to feature Jabba the Hutt on their products. Dairy Time in the UK did make a flavor of yogurt with Jabba on it, he was on a popsicle stick from Spain, and of course he was one of the characters in Pepperidge Farm’s Star Wars cookies. But compared to all the Vaders, R2-D2s and Yodas we see in food products, there really aren’t very many with Jabba. So it’s interesting to see a cereal box like this.
This box of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes came out in 1997, around the time of the Special Editions of the Star Wars movies, and was only released in Canada, which explains the bilingual packaging. Looking at it now just underscores how unimpressive the CGI version of Jabba was.
On the back was one of those 3D illusion images that is supposed to appear 3D if you stare at it with your eyes unfocused for long enough. I can see a pretty impressive 3D effect after a while, but I can’t figure out if it’s supposed to represent a specific picture. It seems to work on the computer screen as well, so click to enlarge the image and let me know if you can figure out what it is.
On the side is an offer to join the Star Wars Fan Club.
