News: Sideshow’s Lomrokk the Gamorrean Executioner Statue Up for Preorder Now

September 13, 2012

Sideshow’s Lomrokk the Gamorrean Executioner statue is now up for preorder with an estimated ship date of March 2013. It costs a hefty $324.99, although one minor surprise is that there is no non-refundable deposit required unless you order two or more of them. The other statues in the Mythos line so far do have non-refundable deposits. Its dimensions with the base are 19″ H (482.6mm) x 11″ W (279.4mm) x 7″ L (177.8mm), so it’s similar in size to a 1/4 scale Premium Format figure, even though it’s 1/5 scale. Lomrokk is a big brute.

They also revealed that you will get a second switchable head with the statue, showing Lomrokk with an open mouth. I’m not sure how I feel about the open mouth. It looks like he’s either sneezing or yawning. On the other hand, this is the first time I can recall seeing a Gamorrean with an open mouth, so I guess that’s something.

I’m kind of disappointed Sideshow went this route with the Gamorrean. I would flip my lid for a Gamorrean Premium Format, and this fellow pretty much dashes any hope of seeing that any time soon. I don’t like this very much at all.

I hadn’t thought about that. It’s probably true that we won’t see a Gamorrean PF in the near future, but the Mythos and PF lines are distinct from each other and this Gamorrean is quite different from the ones that appeared in ROTJ, so I think there’s still room for a Gamorrean PF in the future.

Yeah, I’m sure they’ll do one eventually. But they do seem to take their other lines into consideration when planning new pieces, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the same character getting two new products too close together, with the possible exceptions of exceedingly popular characters, like Darth Vader or Boba Fett. Certainly not a minor character like the Guard.

I still fawn over my Gamorrean Attakus though, so I’m happy for now.

I rather like the whole myths line. All the poses are pretty Action packed in my opinion. It wouldn’t surprise me if a PF was cast sometime later though.
