Vintage “Jabba the Hutt Throne Room Action Scene” Model Kit by MPC
March 19, 2011

I talked about the AMT/ERTL model kit of Jabba’s throne room quite some time ago, but at the time I didn’t realize that it was actually a later re-issue of this kit by MPC that came out in 1983. Aside from the box and instructions, about the only difference between the two kits is that the MPC version is cast in brown plastic, while the AMT/ERTL version is in gray, so click on the link above for more information. I’ll have to say, I’m a little bit more forgiving of this kit’s shortcomings now that I know how old it actually is.

Click the image below to view a PDF file of the instructions. I like the drawings.

I had this when I was little. Unfortunately, it’s not one of the many items for which I’ve managed to hang on to at least some bits of over all these years.
I had the Hoth hanger when i was young and i do remember being pretty impressed with them at the time.
I have just acquired one from eBay that was a gift from the sellers 10th birthday and has been unpainted and recently found in his parents loft. It is in mint condition and is the UK Airfix version from 1983. It still has the free poster inside! I am wondering if anyone has made additional characters in this scale to help fill it, it could do with a Ree Yes as he is the character to stop 3po giving away they are hiding behind the curtain, it has unhelmeted Boushh Leia but no helmeted version or Slave Leia. A cloaked Luke would be cool. Just to represent the scenes you can play out with the other figures.
